‘Branding’ Letterhead

Before there was ‘website branding’, there was distinctive letterhead. This sample from 1879 describes Rand, McNally & Co. as ‘Printers, Publishers & Engravers’ and as ‘Publishers of Rand-McNally Official Railway Guide’.

Rand McNally initially printed tickets and timetables for Chicago’s railroad industry, followed by printing Railway guides. They published their first road map, the New Automobile Road Map of New York City & Vicinity, in 1904.
